The World Congress of Slow Food was held in Puebla, Mexico. Lorenzo Scarpone reports "the drastic situation recounted by a delegate from the Tabasco region hit me hard as she described the devastation farmers are experiencing as a result of recent floods which have reached biblical proportions. Carmen Tedesco, co-leader of Slow Food San Francisco was also in attendance, and he and I thought it would be nice to make a donation of $7,000 for these farmers of cacao with a promise of helping them find customers in the Bay Area for their cacao. If any of you members have contacts or are interested, please contact us."
