There are some members of the U.S. Chocolate industry that want to change the basic formula of chocolate allowing for vegetable fat substitutes instead of cocoa butter and milk substitutes in place of real milk. We need your help before April 25, 2007. See Guittard's DON'T MESS WITH OUR CHOCOLATE WEBSITE to find out how you can help with just a few clicks of the keyboard.
Conceptual artist April Banks presents her first solo exhibition which examines the 'intricate global economy that is driven by the constantly growing demand for cocoa'. The exhibit runs through February 17, 2007 at THE INTERSECTION FOR THE ARTS AT 446 Valencia between 15th and 16th Streets. Check out the website for a list of chocolate related events including a conversation with the artist on Saturday, January 27th at 1pm and a panel discussion on Fair Trade and Chocolate on Wednesday, February 7 at 7pm. See you there! I would like to thank an old friend, Tanya Holland, and a new friend, Anthony Ferguson (Anthony is the owner of CACAO ANASA FINE CHOCOLATES ) for passing along this information for our readers.
Our reviews are a highly personal view of what pleases our palate and amuses our sensibilities. There is no pay for play. You will only find us spending time with the chocolates and chocolate related books, links and people that tickle our fancy. If we can't find something nice to say, we just skip saying anything at all. No chocolate bashing here. Life, as we all know, is too short.
